Tansy had a particularly special bond with two gorillas, Djalta and Bims, who she thought of as relatives and often played with on their lawn. Sadly, their special relationship was not meant to last; when Tansy was around 10 years old, Djalta and Bims were released back into the rainforests of their native Gabon.
Now more than a decade later, a grown up Tansy decided to go and find her beloved friends in the Gabon rainforest with the help of her father, and fortunately for us, their touching reunion was caught on camera!
When Tansy found her childhood friends, they embraced, shared kisses, rubbed noses, and sniffed each other in a remarkable display of affection. They hadn't seen one another in over 12 years, but their bond was as strong as ever! Bims seemed to immediately recognize her and gave her a couple of hugs.
"He definitely recognized me. He was so sweet and he was hugging me and being so gentle. He's 18 now," Tansy said about Bims in an interview. You can watch the amazing reunion for yourself in the video below!
